Barbara Baxter Pillinger was the director of academic honors programs and professor in the College of Education at the University of Minnesota. She earned her B.S. from the University of Illinois in 1956, her M.S. from Smith College (Northampton, MA), her Ed.M. in 1964 and Ed.D. in 1972 from Harvard University.
